Unitopia are clearly the band most have come to hear, judging by their reception and the reaction to their lengthy set. Given that a lot of Australian prog these days revolves around the country’s passion for Tool and Muse, the Adelaide band’s symphonic sound is not really the sort of thing Aussies go a bundle on, hence singer Mark Trueack’s announcement that they’ve played gigs back home to five people. However, with tiredness creeping into the audience, even if they played for a bit too long, one can but wonder at their accomplished stagecraft. How do a band with evidently so few opportunities to play the likes of Summer’s End get so good?’
